# Snippet preservation

Forge no longer exposes a Gist product. During the verified SKIT cutover,
ordinary Markdown, prose, and code-snippet history is copied into the minimal
`content.snippet` preservation sink.

- Public and unlisted records receive new typed snippet read URLs.
- Private records remain owner-readable.
- Owners can read and export exact revision history.
- There is no snippet editor, publishing workflow, collection surface, Site
mount, or redirect from an old Gist URL.
- Unsupported records remain quarantined with explicit diagnostics.

The cutover cannot remove legacy storage until every record, revision, and blob
has been accounted for, a complete private `.programdb` rollback snapshot has
verified, and destination history has passed authorization-aware readback. The
rollback snapshot expires automatically after 30 days.
